In the segment of luxury beds, horsehair belongs to the best materials used for their production. Horsehair has excellent absorption and ventilation properties. Hollow horsehair perfectly transports moisture away and is immediately dry. This quick-drying property is essential for a bed, ensuring dry sleep at an optimum temperature. In addition, its shape makes it work like small springs, which keeps the bed soft and flexible all the time. Horsehair is gained by careful combing of horse´s manes and tails. To gain horsehair necessary for the production of one Saffron bed, 2,000 combing units are needed on average. A big advantage of horsehair as well as other natural materials used for Saffron beds lies in their unbelievably long life.
Cashmere wool belongs to the finest natural fibres. It is produced from fine combed wool of goats living on the foothills of Himalayas. What make cashmere extraordinary are its softness and insulating properties. Compared to wool, it has a higher warmth rate. Cashmere is used in selected Saffron beds in the upper layers of mattresses and toppers, giving the user the feeling of exclusive softness, while ensuring an optimum temperature during sleep. Only few people in the world can afford to sleep in a cashmere bed.
Sheep wool has many properties which cannot be replaced by any other natural material. Wool naturally repels moths or mites and functions as a perfect natural air conditioning – it cools down in the summer and warms up in the winter. Combined with cotton, it regulates the temperature of bed, while increasing the permeability and comfort. You will thus spend all night in a dry bed at an optimum temperature.
One of the main materials for the production of Saffron beds is cotton. It is used for its ability to ventilate and transport excessive heat and moisture away. The layers of specially combed cotton cover horsehair, springs, and natural rubber, creating a nice and soft feeling upon every touch. For upholstering of beds and mattresses, Saffron uses the highest quality 100% cotton fabric with the density of weaving of up to 48 threads per square centimetre. Thanks to cotton you will sweat less and sleep in the Saffron bed at an optimum temperature.
Saffron works exclusively with 100% natural rubber of the top quality. Natural rubber is processed from caoutchouc, growing in South East Asia and Latin America. It has excellent anti-allergic and anti-bacterial properties. Due to its properties, caoutchouc is used as an alternative to springs. It perfectly adapts to the body, springs finely, and muscles are relaxed during sleep. The production and use of caoutchouc in Saffron beds is a good example how modern technologies can replace and improve established procedures and materials.
Wood from the Swedish pine constitutes a basic building block for bed construction. The Swedish pine grows very slowly in the cool Scandinavian environment, which gives it the right firmness and resilience. The right choice of quality wood and precise construction of the bed frame ensure a long-lasting firmness and stability of the Saffron beds. This fact enables us to provide a 30-year warranty for all our bed frames.
Saffron uses steel spring systems produced according to the latest Swedish technologies. Our springs, produced from the top quality Swedish steel, are separately covered in fabric bags, so that every spring may move independently of others. Only this way can we produce the most flexible and comfortable bed which is soft on the surface, while providing for a perfect support for the body.
